Central Operations

The Central Operations Department performs much of the behind-the-scenes work that keeps city government working efficiently. You might not deal with Central Operations directly, but its work has an impact on everyone in Jacksonville.

Think of the department as teams of supporting players whose roles include purchasing, human resources, payroll, clerical work, automotive maintenance and public information.

The department is organized into five divisions.

The Procurement Division oversees the purchase of goods and services the city needs to operate.
The Equal Business Opportunity/Contract Compliance Division works with small and emerging businesses to assist them in their business relations with the city.
The Human Resources Division makes sure city government is properly staffed and trained.
The Administrative Services Division performs clerical duties and organizational record keeping.
The Fleet Management Division makes sure the city's automotive fleet runs smoothly.
The Public Information Division is responsible for the flow of information.
